Seats
Most 3 wheel double buggies are initially single pushchairs. However, some models can be converted to accommodate the seat of a second person or carrycot with adapters (these are more commonly found in tandem buggies). There are also models allow you to include a ride-onboard for older children who would like to walk but require some help.
For a lightweight alternative that's ideal for city streets, take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to maneuver and has a large basket with lots of storage. It can accommodate twins from birth and will accommodate two car seats or an infant carrycot and seat. However, the seats need to be facing forwards, and there's no room for a shopping bag underneath and you'll need a sidepack for this.
If you're looking to go off-road and off-road, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a excellent option. It's a side-byside model with the smallest footprint of any double buggy on the market. This allows it to fit through narrow doors and on public transport and enables you to climb up and down kerbs with no trouble. It also has a handbrake that is attached to the adjustable handlebar for extra security and safety.

It's a true all-terrain pushchair with a soft suspension that can easily handle bumpy surfaces. It can accommodate up to 30 seating configurations, and has a built-in ride-on for older children who prefer to walk, plus a 'cinema seating' mode that raises the back seat to improve visibility.
The phil&teds dot is a brilliant single buggy that is available from day one that can then easily adapt to take 2 (or 3!) Multiple configurations are possible. This is especially helpful for parents who have children in your car. The frame can be affixed to a wedgie, which permits the best lie-flat position. Or car seat adapters that work with a wide range of brands.
Suspension
The suspension of a double 3 wheel buggy will determine the ease with which your child/children and you can push it. It is important to have a smooth ride, as babies can feel every bump in the road. This is especially relevant if you drive on rough terrain, such as grass or unpaved roads. Some models have locking front tires that assist in maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.
Some models use air-filled tyres that provide a fantastic all-terrain ride, but can be susceptible to punctures, so make sure you have spares in the trunk. Others have foam or gel tyres that are specifically designed to handle bumps and can be less susceptible to punctures, however, you may find them a little stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back if you choose to jog.

A 3-wheel double buggy folds quite easily to be stored. Many are awed by the storage capacity of the triple wheeled double buggy. It's also designed to deal with slightly rough terrain so it's a great choice for family walks and all-terrain strolls.
Other models, like the UPPAbaby Vista 2 offer plenty of space and flexibility to accommodate twins or a toddler and a baby (it utilizes their 'PiggyBack' boards to make this possible). It's the smallest side-by-side double available and comes with some impressive tech including games-changing LED lights on both sides of the frame to improve safety in low light conditions.
